Who makes Phonelum

The company
Technology out of Tsinghua, made in Shenzhen
Phonelum is owned by Shenzhen Yinshu Electronics Co., Ltd. The hearing aids themselves are designed and manufactured by Shenzhen eartech Technology Co., Ltd., a National High-Tech Enterprise and a Guangdong Provincial SRDI enterprise whose technology originates from Tsinghua University.
eartech builds intelligent hearing aids and nothing else. The Phonelum product is the US-market version of the RIC 3.0 platform, which has already been through a year of sales in China and tens of thousands of users — so what reaches the United States is a tested device rather than a first attempt.

Algorithm
The proprietary JI AI hearing algorithm, which replaced an earlier third-party black box. Because we own it, we can explain what it does and keep improving it.
Clinical work
A joint laboratory with Beijing Tongren Hospital under the National Key R&D Program, and an AI auditory research project with Peking University Shenzhen Hospital.
Certification
More than twelve Chinese invention patents, and ISO 13485 certification for the medical device quality management system used in manufacturing.
Regulatory
Where Phonelum stands with the FDA
Phonelum hearing aids have completed FDA Establishment Registration and Device Listing, and comply with the FDA's OTC hearing aid regulations. They are legally sold as over-the-counter hearing aids in the United States.
OTC hearing aids for adults aged 18 and over with mild to moderate hearing loss do not require 510(k) premarket notification, and our labelling and packaging follow the FDA's OTC identification requirements. This is the same regulatory pathway used by other OTC hearing aid brands — it is a different route, not an absent one, much as over-the-counter medicines follow a different path from prescription drugs.
Phonelum hearing aids are over-the-counter (OTC) hearing aids intended for adults aged 18 and older with perceived mild to moderate hearing loss. They are not intended for children, or for severe to profound hearing loss. If you have sudden hearing loss, ear pain, drainage, dizziness, or hearing loss in only one ear, stop use and consult a physician or licensed hearing healthcare professional.
